This is a superb development opportunity for someone who has perhaps recently qualified in a science field or with a qualification in analytical science looking for an opportunity to kick start their lab based career.

This position is also a great “foot in the door” opportunity for an individual to be considered for any Lab Technician roles, as vacancies arise within the business.

Hours of work: 40 hour week – DAYS 8am – 4pm with 2 x 20 minute breaks

The Role includes but is not limited to:

The holder of this Laboratory Assistant position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory and providing support the Managers, Supervisors and Lab Technicians in relation to the smooth running of the Quality Control and Microbiology Laboratories.

Key Responsibilities include but are certainly not limited to:

Report any damage to laboratory fabric of failing equipment appropriate Manager

Promote and support a safety culture within the Labs

Actively monitor and maintain the analytical bench re-agents within their expiry dates, disposing of those which have expired

Aid in the preparation of media for the MBA Laboratory

Proactively assist with the stock of consumable materials, equipment and chemicals, by informing QC Manager of approaching shortages

Actively monitor the calibration status of all lab instrumentation

Dispose of waste materials  in a regular, safe and efficient manner in line with cleaning protocols for both labs

Support colleagues in the receipt, logging and organisation of incoming samples for analysis

Ensure 5S is kept up to date with the standards set out in the Layered audits and work with the team to address any issues
