Senior Microbiologist

Ref: HM1048 Salary: £Attractive pkge Contract Type: PermanentLocation: Ashford

We are currently recruiting for a leading manufacturing organisation and key employer in the in the area (non-food) for a Senior Microbiologist working within the QA Department.

The ideal applicant will:

Have a degree in Microbiology OR have a relevant qualification and experience in a similar position.

12 months + experience in a Microbiological laboratory as a minimum

 

The primary purpose of the role:

To deputise for the Microbiology Lab Manager as well as be the trainer for the Microbiology Team

This senior role will manage the data created by the team as well as aid in investigations and CAPA’s as required.

Training:

Initiate and manage the training of Microbiologists ensuring they follow relevant standards.

Ensure that all personal training, company policies, SOP’s, safety procedures etc are all kept up to date and that these documents are followed on a day to day basis including Good Control Laboratory Practices (GCLP).

Perform Microbiological tests:

Growth

Bioburden testing of in-Process water and raw materials samples

Sterility testing

Microbiology media quality control

Processing of Biological indicators

Environmental Monitoring of Cleanrooms for both viable and non-viable particulates

Challenge testing

Reading of Media Fills

Performing validation of laboratory methods and equipment as required

Assisting in the maintenance of the calibration program

Active participation in OOS and CAPA investigation

Recording of non-conformance investigations (carrying out any remedial actions)

 

Competencies we are seeking:

Experience and understanding of working within cGMP environment

Experience and competency using aseptic techniques

Strong attention to detail

Excellent numerical, verbal and literacy skills

Experience in Microbiological identification

The ability to work within a team

Effective communication skills and the ability to convey information accurately and consistently

Good problem solving skills

Experience in using LIMS

Conscientious, approachable and able to use initiative
