A superb opportunity to become an integral member of a professional Purchasing Team with a global manufacturing company and key employer within the area, specialising in the manufacturing of fast moving consumer goods.
It is important to clarify we are not looking for someone with technical expertise relevant to their sector, ie, personal care/ over the counter products, as this can be taught, but a desire to move into this sector, learn and develop your knowledge, is considered a must!
The role has become available due to the retirement of a long service member of the Purchasing Team and is considered ideal for someone hungry and ambitious, ready to embrace that next level in their procurement career within an organisation that offers all the support you need in order to fast track to Senior Buyer level within 18 months.
We are ultimately looking for someone with a “procurement personality”, with core procurement experience, who has perhaps already:
Managed a budget/spend of up to £4 - 5million
Who can successfully manage multiple suppliers and work on often complex projects
Skilled at relationship management with key suppliers and develop effective business partnerships
Continually identify opportunities and deliver year on year cost savings
Is a skilled negotiator, with strong analytical skills and problem resolution skills
Good IT skills, ideally a proficient user of ERP systems, plus general competency within MS Office
Able to influence at all levels within an organisation
Focus on continuous improvement
With any exposure to commodity management and project sourcing considered an advantage
Time management skills and able to work to deadlines
Good project management skills
Able to work on multiple complex projects
A strong team player with a “can do” attitude and a desire to continually improve
Empathetic with a customer service orientation
A CIPS qualification would be an advantage, however, solid hands on experience in a busy and demanding procurement position equally acceptable.
