Enforcement Officer opportunity (ideal ex-Police, ex-Prison Officer, ex-Forces

Ref: HME/O/Folk Salary: ££10.66 per hour Contract Type: Temp to PermLocation: Folkestone

We have an urgent Enforcement Officer opportunity, which, although being presented initially on a temporary basis, there is EVERY OPPORTUNITY for the successful individual to be considered for the permanent angle as well!

Working within the public sector, the main purpose of the Environmental Enforcement Officer role is to assist in the effective delivery of the environmental patrol function (ie. dog control, dog fouling, littering, fly tipping, waste out early) etc.

Whilst previous experience in a similar role would be considered ideal, it is also important to say that it is considered ideal an individual who is either ex-Police, ex-Forces or ex-Prison Officer. Depending on your background we would ideally be looking for someone with a combination of the following, although much of this could be learnt on the job:

Knowledge of environmental and dog control enforcement regulations including the Dog Control Orders, the Police & Criminal Evidence Act 1984, the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014
Experience of working within a customer facing capacity and communicating effectively with the general public
Capable of being on your feet for relatively lengthy periods of time
Lifting and manoeuvring heavy objects
IT skills
Calm and professional demeanour in order to communicate effectively with members of the general public
Full UK driving licence required

Desirable Experience
Local authority policy enforcement experience
Working with community partnerships and delivering educational initiatives/campaigns
Experience of working with or handling dogs
Experience of preparing prosecution files
Reasonable geographical knowledge of the district and surrounding area
A relevant environmental related qualification
CIEH qualification desirable, but not essential
Any experience of camera surveillance and monitoring helpful
